UDGN Academy
A professional bi- annual four-month incubator for Black and minority fashion designers across Africa, the UK, and the global diaspora.
We exist to build a fashion ecosystem where underrepresented creatives are seen, supported, and scaled.
Our programme supports designers to:

How It Works
UDGN Academy is pioneering a structured development pathway for Black and minority designers grounded in lived experience, cultural identity, and real-world industry access.
We combine online mentorship, live masterclasses, and physical showcases delivered in partnership with African Fashion Foundation and supported by commercial partners including Fashion Scout, Fashion Enter, and other leading industry figures.
This hybrid model blends the rigour of industry-standard training with the values of cultural equity and creative empowerment.
The Academy guides designers from concept to runway to retail within one connected ecosystem, providing strategic support, global exposure, and professional development tailored to help underrepresented creatives build sustainable global brands.

Programmes
Vanguard Programme (February LFW)
An elite four-month accelerator for 6–7 emerging and mid-career designers, focusing on brand leadership, business clarity, and creative direction. Vanguard offers a more intensive, hands-on progression from concept to retail readiness combining storytelling, product development, brand strategy, and international press exposure-culminating in a London Fashion Week showcase in partnership with Fashion Scout. Cultural Threads Programme (September LFW)
UDGN Cultural Threads is a flagship four-month incubator for 10–12 emerging designers, focusing on heritage, identity, and cultural storytelling through fashion. The programme offers a collaborative, mentorship driven journey from concept to runway, combining design development, craftsmanship, community dialogue, and industry exposure - culminating in a London Fashion Week showcase in partnership with Fashion Scout. Olaitan Maria Olatoke is the creative force behind RBA, a contemporary fashion brand rooted in Yoruba heritage and bridal storytelling. Fusing ancestral motifs with refined, modern silhouettes, RBA reflects Olaitan’s vision for bridalwear that carries meaning, elegance, and cultural pride.
The brand is known for its made-to-order robes, detailed with hand-stitched crystals, appliqués, cowries, and coral beads—each symbolising wealth, protection, and feminine power. With over 1,000 bespoke pieces created, RBA has redefined the bridal morning experience for a new generation of African women. Through the UDGN incubator, Olaitan is developing her SS26 collection—pushing her design language further and shaping RBA into a distinct voice within the next generation of African fashion.

Olumide Oyewumi is the creative force behind MIDETUSH, a contemporary fashion brand rooted in Nigerian heritage and Afrocentric expression. Fusing traditional textiles like Aso-Oke with clean, modern tailoring, MIDETUSH reflects Olumide’s vision for streetwear that carries depth, identity, and edge.
The brand is known for its structured silhouettes, bold bomber jackets, and symbolic detailing that honours culture while speaking to a global audience. Through the UDGN incubator, Olumide is developing his SS26 collection—pushing his design language further and shaping MIDETUSH into a distinct voice within the next generation of African fashion.

Kolapo Omoyoloye is a UK-based footwear designer whose journey began in a small community workshop in Nigeria. With over 8 years of experience, he has honed a made-to-order model rooted in craftsmanship, cultural pride, and attention to detail. Known for his durable, elegant loafers, mules, and boots, Kolapo blends Yoruba heritage with refined silhouettes—using painted leatherwork and symbolic textures to tell stories underfoot.
Through UDGN, he is expanding his vision of footwear as both utility and cultural expression—where every step carries depth, purpose, and identity.

Best known for his signature blazers and refined wardrobe staples, Olutoba designs with intention—crafting collections that reflect identity, power, and presence. Since launching in 2022, The Ideal Craftsman has quickly earned a reputation for its sharp aesthetic, clean cuts, and commitment to quality.
As part of the UDGN Incubator, Olutoba continues to evolve his brand vision—shaping a new language for African menswear on the world stage.

2025 Incubator Cohorts
Princess Mary Obeya, known as Ene, is the designer behind PEM — a contemporary brand exploring the intersection of cultural identity and artistic expression. Based in Nigeria and deeply influenced by her Idoma heritage, Ene creates pieces that honour tradition while embracing modern storytelling through fashion.
Her SS26 collection, “IRI OGRINIA – The Spirit Wears Red,” draws inspiration from Idoma ceremonial dress, dance, and spiritual symbolism. Through fringe, cowries, bold silhouettes and layered textures, she reimagines sacred attire into contemporary forms that celebrate womanhood, ritual, and ancestral memory.
At UDGN, Ene is part of our inaugural designer incubator, bringing depth, emotion, and a distinctive cultural lens to the SS26 “Cultural Threads” showcase.
